Services Provided, Huronia Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic in the Simcoe County & Couchiching Region

The Huronia Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinic provides primary health care services and preventive care to people of all ages. Whether you need to have a complete physical or need to visit us with a minor illness, manage a chronic or complex illness, or need support for mental health wellbeing, the clinic is here for you or your family.  Pregnant women and their families may receive care here.  When you choose to register with the clinic your primary care provider will be a Nurse Practitioner.

Your care will be supported through team-based care.  This means that your goals for health are supported by our Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, a Pharmacist, and by our Consulting Physicians.  These staff members work within the clinic so you can receive most of your care within our clinic. If you require a referral to a specialist or other community services or providers we can assess your needs and make the appropriate referrals.  Some clients are able to see their specialists through our Ontario Telemedicine Network.  This means that you may not have to travel to see your specialist.

We are able to do many routine lab tests on site.  We offer a variety of health care education programs based on the needs of our clients.

Nurse Practitioners

Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are expert clinicians trained to diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of health conditions independently. They provide holistic care by addressing physical and mental health needs, understanding patient histories, and educating individuals to lead healthier lives. By collaborating closely with other healthcare providers, NPs enhance timely access to cost-effective, quality care, significantly easing pressures on the healthcare system.

Ontario Telemedicine (OTN)

Ontario Telemedicine (OTN) uses advanced technology to deliver healthcare remotely, providing essential medical access to residents across Ontario, especially those in rural communities. By speaking with your Nurse Practitioner about OTN, you can connect quickly with specialists, receive care closer to home, and reduce travel-related costs and stress. Telemedicine visits function just like traditional appointments, with specialists interacting through a secure video connection—ensuring timely, convenient, and free healthcare for Ontario residents.

Consulting Physicians

Consulting Physicians at Huronia NPLC support Nurse Practitioners by offering expert assessments and guidance for cases that extend beyond the Nurse Practitioner’s scope of practice. While they do not replace your primary care provider, they assist with tasks such as ordering specific tests, managing controlled medications, completing required forms, and recommending specialist referrals when needed. These physicians are available at the clinic for a few hours each week. Access to a Consulting Physician is by referral from your Nurse Practitioner when appropriate.
